Daddy’s Girl is a short animation I created as a personal challenge while attending a 3D animation subject at University. I was a total beginner at the time, at both animation and 3D modeling, and the course was only meant as an introduction. However, I learned a great deal and managed to create a short that, despite the terrible animation, I believe transmits the feelings I intended to.
The purpose of the course was not only to learn animation, but also to learn how to plan a story: “Choose a subject, find a metaphor to portray it, and write a story”. To properly conceive the animation, I previously created a storyboard and an animatic. You can find them further down in this post.
The story revolves around a girl who lost her smile due to her estrangement from his father. I encourage you to watch the animation until the end.
